Goals:
2003/2004 Offseason Bodybuilding and Business Goals:
Bodybuilding Goals for 2003/2004 Offseason (August 25, 2003-April 2004)
- Make maximum muscle gains #1 priority!
- Gain as much lean muscle as humanly possible. Accept some fat gain in order to build maximum muscle and increase strength, but stay in decent shape. Do not use "Offseason" as an excuse to turn into a fatass!
- FIND A GOOD WORKOUT PARTNER who will consistently show up to the gym ready to perform ultra high intensity Max-OT weight training sessions. I believe that not having a consistent workout partner is limiting what I am able to accomplish in the weightroom.
That's It. The above are my 3 main bodybuilding goals for the 2003/2004 Offseason. Now, HOW am I going to accomplish these goals?
Strategies to Accomplish 2003/2004 Offseason Bodybuilding Goals:
- Perform consistent high intensity, heavy Max-OT weight training sessions.
- Follow "Offseason" nutrition and supplementation plan meticulously during the week.
- Eat high quality protein every 2-3 hours during the weekends and limit cheat foods. If I do decide to stray from my bodybuilding diet then make wiser choices (ex. Grilled Chicken sandwich or homemade Chicken and veggie calzone over burgers or restaurant pizza). Also, control quantity of foods on the weekends even if I do decide to cheat. This will allow me to eat more high quality food during the week, which will enable me to build maximum muscle without adding unwanted bodyfat. I must decide how important adding quality muscle mass is to me and do what it takes to achieve my goals. This will require sacrifices that will keep me from doing certain things "normal" people get to do. Since I do not want to be "normal", but instead extraordinary I must be willing to make these sacrifices. At the same time, I should not put too much pressure on myself to be "perfect" as this may burn me out and cause too much frustration. I will strive for excellence, not perfection.
- Improve exercise execution, form, and range of motion on ALL exercises for EVERY muscle group. I MUST leave any ego I have at the door and ensure that I am performing each exercise in a manner that provides maximum overload to the intended muscle group. If I cannot perform the exercise in this manner then I will reduce the weight until I can do so. I will strive to increase weight on all exercises on a consistent basis in order to keep providing an increased overload. However, I will NOT increase the weight at the expense of proper exercise execution and form.
- Put tremendous focus on "mind to muscle link." Make sure that every single rep of every single set for every single exercise is providing overload to the intended muscle group. Take the time to really think about the muscle group I am working with each exercise and what I am trying to accomplish during each exercise. "Feel" the intended muscle work during each exercise and constantly evaluate my performance and seek out areas of improvement.
- Immediately dismiss any preconceived limitations on how big, strong, and lean I am able to get during this offseason. Let my determination, persistence, and passion to be a champion determine what I am able to accomplish, NOT what I have been able to accomplish in the past or what others may think is possible for me. The MIND is a VERY powerful tool. Use it to make EXTRAORDINARY GAINS over the next 7 months!
- Actively seek out an outstanding workout partner. Do so by posting this entry on my website and Bodybuilding.com. (Anyone who is serious about becoming my workout partner and is willing to train with all out intensity and focus Max-OT style on a consistent basis Monday through Friday morning and lives in the Atlanta area can contact me at Russ@RussYeager.com. Please only contact if you are truly serious, committed and ready to make some major gains in lean muscle mass.) Actively search for qualified workout partner at LA Fitness or around town.
